Madrid – the Berlin of Spain

The past weekend I spent in Madrid together with a friend and we both absolutely loved it. We didn’t have that much time, so if you can plan more than just a weekend to enjoy the most of this wonderful city. Not only the weather is great, there’s a certain relaxed vibe that comes with it, a vibe that I also felt in Berlin.

Due to the warm temperatures during summer life pretty much happens outside and mainly during the evenings. Make sure you go for some tapas or pinchos!

We stayed in Malasaña, a part of Madrid full of hip cafes and tapas bars near the university. For breakfast go visit Ojala or Toma Cafe, really cool places with good food.

Travelling with a friend can be very rewarding, if you’re both on the same wavelength. I personally enjoy it since you’re not completely on your own but with only one friend it’s easier to organise the trip rather than with a group. It’s also healthy to sometimes travel without the partner so a friends trip is an ideal alternative!
